NTG – Plovdiv now has a life-saving defibrillator
In just the first days of May, the initiative has already delivered defibrillators to schools across the country, and the goal is for the life-saving devices to reach more than 110 educational institutions in Bulgaria. Statistics show that if the defibrillator is used in the first minutes after a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival increases significantly. That is precisely why the school leadership sees the initiative as an important step toward a safer school environment. “We did not hesitate for a moment when we learned that we had the opportunity to receive such a device. For us, everything related to the life and health of the people in the school is extremely important and must be ensured,” commented NTG Principal Nikolay Mitev. The donation was presented in the school’s medical office in the presence of Principal Nikolay Mitev, Deputy Principal for Administrative and Economic Activities Tsvetelina Tsvetkova, and Deputy Principal for Educational and Creative Activities Iskra Koycheva. During the demonstration, Dr. Vasim Zamair Mohammed – pediatrician, cardiologist, homeopath, and neonatologist – explained that the device is fully automated and can be used even by people without medical training. “This is one of the wonders of the 21st century. It may look like a small device, but it does enormous work – it saves human life. The defibrillator works automatically, like a robot – it analyzes the situation itself and guides what needs to be done,” said Dr. Mohammed. The defibrillator is a donation from the Lazar Radkov Foundation, and the funds for its purchase were raised through screenings of the film “Giants”, dedicated to the “Caps for the Future” initiative. The device was delivered by representatives of the “Rescue Club for the Future”, who support the distribution of the equipment to schools in different cities across the country. “The film tells the story of the initiative – how the cause began, why caps are collected, and where the funds were donated. Everyone who watches the film also helps. We assist the defibrillators in reaching the schools that have requested such equipment,” explained Asen Petrov from the “Rescue Club for the Future”. The idea for the National Commercial High School to apply for the defibrillator came from history teacher Rosen Ivanov, who saw the organization’s appeal to schools. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the team of ‘Caps for the Future’ and all the volunteers whose tireless work turns a noble cause into reality. We believe that our children deserve this security,” said Rosen Ivanov.
