On December 16, the National Commercial High School hosted an inspiring and highly useful meeting between students and Prof. Daniela Bobeva—a renowned economist, lecturer, and expert with long-standing experience in the financial world. The event was organized by the Student Council and the Euroclub at NTG with the support of teacher Mr. Nikolay Nikolov.

The theme “Happiness and Money” sparked great interest, filling the hall with students seeking answers to questions rarely covered in textbooks:

  • How do we invest wisely?
  • How do we plan our budget?
  • What is risk and what is happiness in the world of finance?

For the first time before a student audience, Prof. Bobeva spoke openly about the challenges young people face in managing personal finances. She dispelled myths about “quick profits,” offered advice on avoiding bad financial decisions, and explained why understanding economics is key to personal freedom and stability.

A special focus was placed on the upcoming adoption of the euro in Bulgaria—what risks and opportunities it holds and how students, as future economists, can prepare. The conversation also touched on digital currencies and new financial technologies.

“Anyone who wants to win must be ready to lose—that is the nature of risk,” emphasized Prof. Bobeva.
