The opportunities for expanding and building upon the partnership between the Camões Institute and the National Trade High School – Plovdiv were discussed by Pedro Sebastião, Director of the cultural institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, and Nikolay Mitev, Director of NTG – Plovdiv, during an official visit to the school.
The meeting was also attended by Iskra Koycheva, Deputy Director for Educational and Creative Activities, and Vanya Nedekova, Portuguese language teacher at the school. The main focus of the conversation was the development of Portuguese language education and the sustainable implementation of the signed cooperation protocol between the two institutions.
The partnership envisages the organization of extracurricular Portuguese language courses, training in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and the opportunity for students to take a certification exam. The Institute provides a teacher and methodological support, while the school ensures the necessary conditions for conducting the training and promoting Portuguese culture.
During the visit, the positive results of the collaboration so far and the growing interest of students in learning Portuguese – one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and an official language in numerous countries and international organizations – were acknowledged.
The parties outlined concrete steps for future joint projects, cultural events, and educational initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for students and establishing NTG – Plovdiv as a school with a European and international orientation.
