NTG and ProCredit Bank Organize a Bank Accounting Competition
On March 5 at 14:00 in room 29 of the National Trade Gymnasium – Plovdiv, the first-ever bank accounting competition will take place, organized for 12th grade students studying the subject "Bank Accounting".
The competition will give students the opportunity to test their skills against each other, demonstrate what they have learned during the school year, and affirm the discipline as a culminating conclusion to their secondary vocational education.
All students whose curriculum includes the discipline "Bank Accounting" are eligible to participate. In our school, these are the future bankers from the "Banking" specialization – 12th "a" grade, and the future accountants from the "Operational Accounting" specialization – 12th "g" grade. We are also opening the competition to students from other economic schools where the subject is taught.
The format will be written and will involve solving entirely real practical case studies from bank accounting, created specifically for the students by our partners from ProCredit Bank Bulgaria, together with their teacher Nikolay Nikolov. Solving the cases will require composing accounting entries using a bank chart of accounts and identifying the accounting accounts involved in specific business operations. The topics are presented in detail in the competition syllabus.
The grand prize for the top 10 students with the highest results is a visit to the Bulgarian National Bank and the Ministry of Finance of Bulgaria in Sofia. There, participants will get a close-up look at the functioning of both institutions and their role in overseeing accounting reporting in the banking and budget systems.
