The State Agency for Child Protection and students from NTG Plovdiv discussed key topics for young people

On 4 December 2025, a meeting was held at the National Trade High School – Plovdiv between students, experts from the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) and representatives of the Regional Department of Education – Plovdiv.

The State Agency for Child Protection and students from NTG Plovdiv discussed key topics for young people

The topic of the meeting was youth engagement and the participation of children in discussing and making decisions that affect their lives.

The event is part of a national campaign by the SACP, which encourages children to take part in youth activities, civic initiatives and policies related to their rights and interests.

The students from NTG showed a high level of engagement, actively expressed their opinions and shared concrete proposals on topics such as: Improving urban public transport and its accessibility; Developing the city’s cycling infrastructure; Updating the curriculum and teaching methods; Creating more opportunities for youth participation and initiative.

The representatives of the SACP were impressed by the openness and maturity of the students. They shared that this was one of the most inspiring meetings with young people they have had so far.

The SACP is the only state body in Bulgaria that coordinates and oversees child protection policies, while also encouraging children’s development and active involvement in society.

The meeting was an important step towards establishing the students’ voice as significant and necessary in decision-making processes related to young people. NTG – Plovdiv is proud to participate in such initiatives, which not only help build active citizens, but also show that children have something to say – and it is time we listen to them.
