Every year on 26 September we mark the European Day of Languages - a celebration of linguistic diversity and curiosity about the world. Because every new language is a new way to communicate, to discover and to connect with the people around us.
👩🏼🏫At NTG the celebration began as early as 24 September, when students from class 9.g stepped into the role of teachers and introduced their classmates to the first words and expressions in Greek, Arabic and French.
🎟On 25 September, already at the entrance, students and teachers were greeted with a surprise - to enter the school they needed a special “pass”: a greeting in English, German, Spanish or another favourite language.
🇪🇺 And the staircases of NTG began to speak the languages of Europe! The word “Hello!” came to life on them in all 24 official languages of the European Union, turning the ordinary climb to the classrooms into a colourful language journey.
🔔During the long break, the students of class 9 organised a team quiz for the ninth-graders, dedicated to the culture of Europe. No phones and no apps - just answer sheets, a stopwatch, a bell and quick thinking! Three teams - English, Spanish and German, measured knowledge, speed and sharpness in a real competition. The “Spanish” team took first place.
🎲During the breaks, fun stands with language games challenged the students to recognise languages, to complete proverbs and idioms, to master tongue twisters and to decipher transcriptions in exchange for small treats.
🎡In the corridors the “Wheel of Language Challenges” and an exhibition of unusual words from different corners of the world awaited them - words for feelings and ideas that can hardly be translated with a single word in Bulgarian.
