NTG opens educational exhibitions under an agreement with the Natural History Museum

The official opening of educational exhibitions at the National Commercial High School – Plovdiv will take place on 11 March 2026 (Wednesday) at 10:00 a.m. in the school foyer.

The event is organized in connection with the signed cooperation agreement between the National Commercial High School – Plovdiv and the Regional Natural History Museum – Plovdiv. As part of the partnership, museum specialists arranged two educational exhibitions – in the classroom for “Geography, Economics and Sustainable Development” and in the biology classroom.

The exhibition in the geography classroom presents authentic mineral and rock specimens that illustrate the geological history and natural wealth of Bulgaria. It is part of the school’s effort to transform the learning environment through the application of the STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), aimed at visually and technologically oriented practical learning in geography and economics, chemistry and environmental protection, as well as biology and health education.

In the learning process, students apply integrated knowledge from various scientific fields – geography, chemistry, physics, biology and ecology. By studying minerals, they become acquainted with the origin and geochronology of rocks – from the Precambrian to the Cenozoic – as well as with their chemical composition and physical properties.

The exhibition also presents the practical significance of natural resources – for example, the role of minerals such as zeolite in water purification and limestone in emission desulfurization, as well as the application of serpentinite in nuclear energy and bentonite in infrastructure construction.

An innovative element in the training is the use of geographic information systems (GIS) to localize deposits and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for analyzing and forecasting the application of natural resources in the context of the modern “green economy”.

A thematic exhibition has also been created in the biology classroom, complementing biology and health education and supporting the study of natural processes through visual specimens and scientific information.

The initiative is also implemented within the framework of a project under the National Program “Bulgaria – Educational Routes”, Module 3, whose goal is to encourage students to explore the country’s natural wealth through modern educational approaches and practical activities.

The opening will take place on 11 March (Wednesday) at 10:00 a.m. in the foyer of the National Commercial High School – Plovdiv.
