NTG Students Stepped into the Role of MEPs in a Virtual European Parliament Game

Students from "Euroclub NTG" – Plovdiv and class 11B took part in the second testing phase of the European Parliament Virtual Role-Playing Game – an innovative educational project that engages young people in the heart of European democracy.

Under the guidance of their history teacher Mr. Vladimir Baev, the participants embarked on a digital adventure – a simulation of the real decision-making process in the European Parliament. They tested the platform's interface, assessed the difficulty of the individual stages, asked questions and provided valuable feedback.

The European Parliament Virtual Role-Playing Game is an interactive online simulation designed for students aged 14–18. In it, they take on the role of MEPs, distributed among political groups, and work on a realistic legislative case. The game reproduces key stages of the legislative process – committee discussions, debates, negotiations and voting. Its goal is to develop young people's skills in debate, argumentation, teamwork and civic responsibility, giving them a practical understanding of the European Parliament's role in the lives of EU citizens.

Participation in this simulation helps students understand how the institutions of the European Union function, how decisions are made, and what it means to be an active citizen in a democratic society. Through the game format, critical thinking, flexibility in argumentation, negotiation skills and working in a political context are developed.

The invitation to participate in the virtual game was addressed personally to "Euroclub NTG" – Plovdiv as recognition of the club's long-standing active involvement in the field of European civic education. The club regularly participates in European Parliament initiatives in Bulgaria, promotes European topics among young people and encourages students' engagement with current EU processes.
