The initiative was organized by the natural sciences team at the high school and turned the school day into a true adventure, in which the young people had the opportunity to experience the work of the specialists who care for Bulgaria’s forests.
With the help of the foresters, the students measured the height and thickness of trees, became familiar with different methods for observing the forest environment, and learned how specialists “read” the health of the forest. The practical activities sparked great interest and showed how important knowledge and care for natural resources are.
Special attention during the lesson was given to one of the most serious threats to nature – forest fires. The students spoke openly with the experts about the causes, consequences, and ways of preventing such disasters. Emphasis was placed on personal responsibility and on how every person can be a guardian of Bulgarian nature.
Through role-playing games, the participants recalled the richness of forest wildlife and discussed the need to protect the habitats of wild animals. In an interactive and accessible way, the students realized how fragile the balance in nature is and how important the role of people is in preserving it.
To preserve their connection with nature, the students created beautiful cards from natural materials. Leaves, twigs, and pebbles were transformed into symbolic messages of love for nature and care for our green home.
The lesson showed that nature can be at the same time a laboratory, a classroom, and an inspiration. The meeting with the foresters was not just an educational activity, but a valuable experience that directed the students’ attention to professions connected with environmental protection and the future of the planet.
